We can still remember our first, glorious Hahnemühle sample pack! From that moment we were hooked...
Hahnemühle entered and quickly revolutionised the photo printing market in Australia around 2001. We can still remember our first, glorious sample pack!
At Image Science, we quickly realised that along with the Epson 2100, this was the dawning of a new age of art level printing in photography. So very very different from those pedestrian plasticky chemistry prints that photo labs ( still!) churn out. Archival pigment inks with good gamut, and gorgeous, proper art papers on which to print...the holy grail.
After a strong start, Hahnemühle rightfully became the worldwide leaders in fine art inkjet materials. Every gallery knows them and pretty much all our major clients use them.
Today, Hahnemühle makes a wide range of materials, both art-style and photo-style, and we still print in house on more Hahnemühle than any other brand.
Surviving the first 400 years of fine art paper making was one thing, but thriving in the now highly competitive digital art paper market is testament to the quality of the company and the product.
We look forward to many more happy Hahnemühle years ahead!
Image Science has been recognised for our many years of excellence in fine art printing as a Hahnemühle Certified Studio.
Here is Hahnemühle's description of the programme:
The Hahnemühle Certified Studio program was created to support professional print providers to achieve and maintain excellence in art reproduction, digital art and photographs.
A Certified Studio has been accredited by one of our technicians after a training session and assessment has been completed. Among many criteria, the studio must have an advanced education level regarding archivability/longevity of their prints, with full competence in fine art inkjet printing workflow. They must fully implement the Color Management workflow.
Artists actively seek out a Certified Studio because they can rely on the business to provide consistent quality in all production steps from trained employees. Most importantly, they would receive assured archivability of all prints made on Hahnemühle Digital FineArt media and a consistent print quality.
