An Exciting New Chapter: Meet the New Owner of Image Science!

4th April 2025 Image Science News

Hello everyone!
I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the new owner of Image Science. My name is James McGill and I’m stepping into this role with a mix of excitement, gratitude, and a genuine passion for the craft. My background is rooted in Franchising (ex Snap Printing Franchisee)  and have experience in various printing solutions; from Wide (Grande) Format,  Short Run Digital Print, Offset Print, T-Shirt Printing, Label printing, Signage and a wide variety of finishing solutions. I have over 25 years of experience helping businesses bring their visual ideas to life through high-quality printing solutions and creative problem-solving.

Have you always been interested in the print industry?
Absolutely. There’s something incredibly rewarding about taking an idea—from a digital file or a raw photograph—and transforming it into a tangible piece of art that someone can hold, frame, or proudly display. The technical side fascinates me, but it's the creative potential and emotional impact of print that truly hooked me.

What made Image Science stand out to you as the right opportunity for your next challenge?
Image Science has a stellar reputation—not just for the quality of its work, but for its service, values, and deep connection to the photographic and fine art communities. That kind of legacy doesn’t come around every day. I saw not just a business, but a brand with soul, and I knew I wanted to be part of its future.

What will be the foremost challenge you foresee in adapting your commercial print experience to the fine art printing industry?
Every sector has its nuances, and in fine art printing, there’s an even greater emphasis on precision, tone, and emotional authenticity. The bar is higher—rightly so—because the work we handle is often deeply personal to our clients. So, while I bring strong technical and business acumen, I know the biggest challenge (and opportunity) lies in deeply understanding the artists' vision and making sure we honour it through every print.

What are some new initiatives or changes that you plan to prioritize first?
First off, I want to listen—really listen—to our customers and team. From there, I’ll be focusing on enhancing the customer experience, streamlining production workflows, and exploring new products/ services. It’s all about our customers’ needs really – so that will be the focus.

In what ways do you see Image Science transforming to meet future industry demands?
The future of fine art and photographic printing is about supporting creators at every stage of their journey—from emerging talent to seasoned professionals. I see Image Science continuing to evolve as a trusted partner for artists and photographers by deepening our commitment to craftsmanship, consistency, and creative collaboration. Whether it’s through refining our colour management processes, offering expert guidance on, products, materials and presentation, or creating space for knowledge-sharing, our focus will be on helping creatives bring their vision to life—exactly as they imagined it. The industry may shift, but our mission remains the same: to honor the work and intent behind every image.

What message would you like to share with our loyal customers?
Thank you. Honestly, thank you for being part of this incredible journey so far. I know I’m stepping into big shoes, but I do so with total respect for what’s been built and a real passion for where we can go next. The same commitment to quality and care that brought you here remains at the heart of everything we do. I can't wait to meet more of you and hear about the projects you’re dreaming up. Let’s create something beautiful together.

Warm regards,
James McGill
