Natania Hollingsworth is a visual artist who has come back to art after years of working within the hospitality & tourism industry. Since then she has created an impressive portfolio of work - her intricate illustrations of birds feature beautiful detailed line work in particular within the feathers!
Natania has been expanding her work to use colour instead of keeping to her normal monochromatic palette and they are truly stunning!
We have been working with Natania over the past few months creating art reproductions from her original illustrations. Each of her originals were scanned at high resolution before we removed the background tone & texture so the reproduction is printed seamlessly without any trace of the original paper.
Education and background:
After finishing Matriculation I enrolled in a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Uni of SA, however, I only stayed in this course for 6 months. I ended up completing a Diploma of Business in Hospitality and Tourism and worked in this industry for the majority of my working life.
Where are you based?
In the beautiful Macedon Ranges, Victoria.
How long have you been a visual artist for?
I have always loved art from my school years, but have only returned to practising art in the past year.
What do you feel is your biggest achievement to date?
At this stage getting creative again, developing my style and loving what I am doing. I now have the opportunity to grow in a lifestyle and business which I love.
What are your creative influences?
I really enjoy drawing birds, especially Australian birds. There is so much detail in their feathers that can be interpreted into really interesting shapes and lines.
I am also influenced by ink work and tattoo art. I love the technical aspect and the intricate line and stippling detail in these works and I am a bit of a fan of monochrome images.
What are your favourite tools of the trade?
I love pigment ink pens, but am branching out to try some different mediums such as water colour and pencil.
How have you found getting started with printing at Image Science?
Image Science have been a fantastic resource and one of the reasons I chose them for my printing and art reproduction work. Both their website and staff are so informative and the results are outstanding.
How has being able to create edition prints from your originals been influential to your business?
This allows more of my clients to access my work at a more affordable price point, creating greater presence and sales.
Lots and lots of drawing. I have a couple of special works in progress, but in the meantime I will be exhibiting at the Brunswick Street Gallery Small Works Art Prize 7th May - 2nd June.
Thanks so much Natania - it's always a pleasure! You can keep up to date with Natania's work here:

...I found Image Science a breeze to work with. Easy ordering process and I loved the way they made me feel like I was in complete control of the printing process without actually having to print anything myself. My print turned out perfect - it was sharp and matched the colours to how I saw the image on my iPad Pro’s screen.
