Hahnemühle Platinum Rag is a gorgeous uncoated fine art paper (i.e this is NOT a coated inkjet paper!).

It is designed to meet the highest quality requirements for alternative printing processes such as:

  • Platinum/Palladium
  • Van Dyke
  • Cyanotype
  • Salt Prints
  • Silkscreen (Screen) Printing
  • ...and many others!

This naturally bright white paper has a very high quality feel - with a hefty weight of 300gsm, it is made from 100% cotton fibres. Acid free, and does not contain any alkaline buffering. With the optimised 'sizing', the paper allows for easy coating and clearing (i.e. this paper resists absorbing liquids and thus does not warp in use to the same degree as a regular art paper).

When used for Platinum printing, Hahnemühle Platinum Rag excels with a beautiful tonal range and very deep blacks. The smooth, slightly textured surface and cotton substrate lend the paper a pleasant feel-to-the-touch. Both sides have a very good print quality without any noticeable difference while printing both the front and the back.

Main quality characteristics of the new Hahnemühle Platinum Rag are:

  • Paper is acid-free, unbuffered and contains no optical brighteners
  • The paper is not ‘thirsty’, and absorbs the coating solution optimally
  • Clarifying the paper goes quickly
  • Prints feature rich tones and deep blacks
  • 100% cotton fibres and the smooth, slightly textured surface ensure a pleasant feel
  • The front and back can be printed equally without quality difference
  • The consistency of different paper batches is very good and confirmed by printers
  • The conservational features of the paper guarantees the longevity of prints
